One of our last night’s farewell dinner hit differently. Sitting around the table with friends who’ve been our chosen family for over a decade, it finally sunk in—we’re actually doing this. We’re leaving this lovely bunch behind. 😭
These are the people who celebrated our small wins (like surviving another dinner party without burning anything) and held us through the big stuff. Who helped us figure out parenting, negotiating, agriculture, physio, and everything in between.
The question everyone keeps asking: “Why now? Why are you moving?”
The honest answer? Because we can, so why not. Because we want new adventures while we’re still young enough to handle the chaos.
But here’s what’s giving us the courage to leap: knowing these friends aren’t going anywhere. They’re our safety net, our “you can always come home” people. In 5 or 10 years, we might all have more wrinkles and different problems, but we’ll pick up right where we left off.
That certainty? It’s everything. Kids thrive with stable and safe homes, and we thrive knowing we have a stable community that won’t judge us if s*** hits the fan.
Plus, now our friends get to visit us somewhere with better weather when they need to warm up. Win-win.

I really want to thank the hosts, Claire and Fran, for their hospitality and to everyone contributing to the beautiful buffet. I am going to miss the food and company so, so much. Love you all x

See you soon!
